 Huyton Area Children’s Centres

2 into 1 Does Go!

The 2 children’s centres teams that covered North Huyton and South Huyton are merging into one new larger team.  The great news is that all the staff who you know from your local centre will be staying in the new team. The team will now cover all the centres in the whole of Huyton. This means that the staff will have to move around more often between centres so you will gradually start to see new staff from other centres in your local centre.

Now that we are one team covering all of the Huyton centres, this means that families will be able to come to any centre in Huyton, whichever is the most convenient for you. Sometimes we may only be able to put on a session at one centre at a time so you may have the choice of either travelling to a centre further away or waiting for a session to start nearer to where you live. Also don’t forget that due to demand you can still only come to one stay & play session a week so you need to choose the one most convenient for you and your child.

The same staff will still be here in the Huyton area delivering the same great services and hopefully helping to support families if and when they need a bit of extra information or advice.

Parent feedback & representation

We are hoping to start some new sessions including a parent/carers forum so that all families can have the opportunity to give us feedback on sessions and activities. We are also looking for parents/carers to join the new Huyton Advisory Board which, like a school governing body, helps oversee the running of the centre and is made up of representatives from partner agencies like health and local schools and also parent reps.

Don’t forget also that we are always looking for volunteers to join our excellent volunteer programme, which includes free training and support. We also have other free training sessions on all sorts of topics ranging from First Aid to Dress Making to Maths and English.

I am really looking forward to working with the newly merged team across the whole of Huyton and am so pleased to be leading a team with such enthusiasm and commitment.

Best wishes, Veronica Wright, Huyton Children’s Centres Locality Manager
